I remember watching the trailers for this series and having this weird mix of sensations: in one hand, I thought the series look like a terrible retake, copy, mock or whatever form Astroboy, on the other hand whatsoever, I seriously thought that the series look promising, at least if it was well made. Gosh, how wrong I was...
Not only this is one of the most bad, terrible and poorly directed series of the last years. In fact my best reccomendation would be to stay far, far way from this. Serioulsy, I mean why are you reading this? RUN!!
Well, known being serious, this series actually was produced and developed by Charlie Bean, who for some reason has taking part in the Powerpuff Gils, Dexter and Jimmy Neutron. Either way, the influence of all this series it's so strong that sometimes I couldn't note the difference between what I was watching, obviusly because it all sums to: gross and disgunting humor reaching the level of "toilet humor", zero script or something that hardly resembles to a plot, unnecesary characters (usually idiotic and brainless), and LOTS, of unecessary violence. In fact sometimes I wonder how this series reach a kids primetime: the series just deals about waiting the moment to watch Robotboy becoming a terrorist weapon (no joke).
Still, you have to give credit to the creators, in some moments it just seems that they seriously believe that this is quality television. Not only that, but actually believing that it's funny, educational and deep. Maybe I got lost between the multiple fart jokes of "G-Man" and the scenes of mass destruction happening on my TV.
The animation isn't something to scream about: it's dull and bland, also suffers from an amazing number of amateur mistakes, from the use of color, to the camara and shadows. Such a shame from what it seems an important international production (German, French and American studios work on this) and high cost values.
RATE: 1.5. The extra half star it's for the only worth thing of this series: robotboy. That's right, not only it'a a well constructed character, it's amazingly well scripted. The fact that doesn't embodies "purity and goodness" (like astroboy), but instead behaves like a comoon child or baby makes it an interesting and likeable character, since it usually borders the line of good and evil mostly because it's ignorant of the world and his own actions, it embodies the "innocence" of children. Sadly all the other characters are either dispossable or useless.
