(...say that ten times fast.)

I spent the evening playing catch-up on the DVD and Bluray releases for the past little while. As I was going through Amazon, I came across the latest Disney releases which tweaked my interest. They were...

Rescuers / Rescuers Down Under
Pocahontas / Pocahontas II
Aristocats

Now the Aristocats release isn't all that exciting since that film seems to get re-released on DVD fairly regularly, but the double-packs for Rescuers and Pocahontas might be worth it for some people. I don't know about the rest of you, but I still haven't gotten around to replacing my VHS copies of both Rescuers and Pocahontas despite the fact that I haven't had a working VHS player in years. Considering that Rescuers Down Under is actually a decent movie--one of my all-time favourites in fact--that could be a pretty good deal.

One warning on the Pocahontas pack though. The reviews on Amazon are livid because it doesnt include the extra of "If I Never Knew You". This was on the 10th Anniversary DVD edition, but it's apparently been removed for this release, which is kinda silly. Also, my high level of distaste for Pocahontas II makes that set not terribly appealing--at least for me.

Anyways... just a heads up.

Pocahontas / Pocahontas II

I might be interested in that. How much are they paying?

Well, the US Amazon is listing $20, but since it's a new release it might be cheaper to get it from your local store and skip the shipping.

Haha... okay that makes somewhat more sense.

You were scaring me there for a minute. I thought maybe you'd started going soft on us... Wink

Guess I should go ahead and spring for the Fox and the Hound double pack.  The sequel was so-so, but not a bad so-so.

It's such a shame Dumbo 2 got cancelled, but I don't think today's animators and storyboarders have what it takes to understand what made the first Dumbo so good.

I'd put in a vote for Fox/Hound plus sequel as one of my top several. Averaged out it's pretty damn good.

Competition includes Bambi 1 and 2. The original was magnificent; the sequel was way above average for a DTV.
