For the longest time I actually thought I had invented this scene as a fake memory!  I was going crazy trying to figure out why I remembered something like this but couldn't place a name or characters.  Glad to see I wasn't going crazy.

And for the record... Gross.

If it's any consolation I had worse nightmares than this when I was bout 7. They involved me being responsible for the destruction of reality by mathematics. At least I think so.  Nevertheless this is truly Gross (without Yoram being involved). What were they thinking? Stay off the brown acid! Freud would have had a field day with the segment starting around 2:13. Talk about anal expulsive.

Hmm, wonder if that's what inspired this...

Neil, you read my mind.

The other thing that crossed my mind is that this whole sequence must have been hellish to animate, all that moving, pulsating, stuff on the screen.

I'm trying to remember if this was the weirdest part of the film, it's possible, but I have zero interest in watching it again to find out. IMHO The film is an slog to get through.

Oddly enough, I discovered this sequence through wiki walking, and I think I started with one of the Great Mighty Poo videos.  I just don't remember which, but it had a video response linking to this scene.

Just for kicks, I watched most of the movie on Youtube.  It's way overstuffed with songs and starving for a plot, but I didn't feel like slitting my wrists while watching, and some of the parts made me laugh.  It's such a drastically terrible movie but somehow fascinating to watch all the same.  I gave it a 2.5.

"Freud would have had a field day with the segment starting around 2:13."  Oh brother.  You should see the scene where the pirate captain in the snow globe does a sort of opera song.  He somehow can't control his, um, belly, shall we say.

"I'm trying to remember if this was the weirdest part of the film"  Probably the black and white MC Escher-esque scene for me.  It seemed to be the prototype for most of the movie of The Thief and the Cobbler.

telling

just realised a I accidentally para-quoted 'Road Rovers'

Hunter: Exile, you and Blitz go around and check out the rear entrance.
Blitz: Excellent. I bite anything that comes out of the rear.
Exile: Sigmund Freud would have field day with nut-boy like you.

I never got to see Road Rovers, but I can see why you liked it.

And speaking of Raggedy Ann, I just discovered that back in the 80s, there was also a rather short-lived animated tv series.  The art style appeared to be slightly different from the movies but not as much of a departure as the Chuck Jones shorts.  Raggedy Ann and co appear to be a bit younger, as apparently that was the demographic this show was aiming for.  There are a few DVDs and a couple VHS tapes.  I think I'll buy the DVDs, grab some images, and erect a profile, but other than voice actors for a few of the characters, useful information seems scarce.

And just to endulge, there also seems to be a huge 200 plus page book called The Animated Raggedy Ann and Andy available on Amazon.  I'm actually intrigued enough to consider buying it.
