This just came down my feed and I thought I'd share.

Even though I'm a World of Warcraft player now, I never played video games as a kid and really don't play much beyond the occasional WoW dungeon these days either. I can't help but wonder it bit if this is going to be a slamdunk for Disney... keying into all that gamer culture... or if there are going to be more people like me going... "meh".

Undecided

As one of the site's resident hardcore gamers, part of me is stoked to see Wreck-It Ralph. However, most of me - the cynical part - is hoping that the film has more to offer than cameos of Bowser, Zangief , Clyde the Ghost and Q*Bert.

It's like Cars. How do you create a film centred around a NASCAR race-car, and get anyone outside of the fan-base to give a damn. Make a decent - if a bit familiar - story around it that people can relate to.

Disney pretty much has the gaming community in their hands - here's hoping that they can create a decent story that will allow others to care outside of the gaming context.

I'm kind of leery of anything with John Lasseter's thumb prints, but Lasseter has his thumb in a wide variety of films that turned out okay, so we'll have to see if the same familiar sinking feeling crops up again with him as director once more.

Trailer no.2 for Wreck-It Ralph is now live and up here.

Still not as excited as I probably should be given my interest in gaming.

I'm still going to go and see it when it comes over here though.

EDIT: Okay, changed it to a channel that doesn't have inappropirate annotations attached.

My skepticism is pretty high on this one too, but then again I felt that way about "ParaNorman" and ended up loving it so I'm prepared to be wrong again this year. :)
