Why, Charlie Brown, Why?

When his friend Janice is feeling unwell and suffering from bruises that stay, Linus suggests to her that she should go and see the school nurse. When Janice doesn’t return to school after several days, the teacher tells the class that their classmate is in the hospital. Linus and Charlie Brown visit Janice in the hospital to find out that she has been diagnosed with leukaemia and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Charles M. Schulz and CBS were approached by the American Cancer Society to create a short film to educate and explain cancer to young children. Schulz - whose mother had died from cancer when he was a child - insisted that the originally intended five-minute education short be extended to a full half-hour animated special.
