Top Cat

Top cat is a streetwise, likeable con-artist who heads up a feline NY street gang consisting of himself, Chooch, Spook, Fancy Fancy, Benny the Ball, and Brain. TC's aim in life is to come up with some new scam, usually involving money, and to cause trouble for their nemesis, Officer Dibble (merely using the local police phone for private business is sufficient to get a rise out of him).

The second of Hanna-Barbera's three prime-time TV series, coming between The Flintstones and The Jetsons.

Was re-named "Boss Cat" in the UK for its first run, due to their being a brand on cat food of that name also out; at the time the BBC - who aired the show - had a rule about not inadvertently advertising anything, in subsequent re-runs in the UK, the series kept its original name. Although the title was changed, the characters all still referred to Top Cat by his proper name (and, of course TC).
