The last of Disney's Package Films that the company made during and after the Second World War, which started with Saludos Amigos. The next package film the company would release would be The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in 1977.
The Wind in the Willows was originally planned to become a full-length feature film, albeit a lower budgeted one in the same vein as Dumbo, plans for the film adaptation began as early as after the release of Snow White in 1938. Production was stalled until Walt decided to redo the film as part of a package.
Both of the film's segments have been released separately, on television, as shorts, and on video, under the titles of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "The Madcap Adventures of Mr. Toad".
