Secret Squirrel

Debuting in 1965, Secret Squirrel emerged at the height of Bond-mania as a parody of the spy genre. Having an overcoat filled with gadgets and a hat with a machine gun in it, he battled evil-doers along with his cohort, the deliciously voiced Morocco Mole (the voice was based on Peter Lorre). Initially co-lead in 'The Atom Ant / Secret Squirrel Show', he soon got his own show, taking Winsome Witch and Squiddly Diddly along with him. He was bounced back and forth between that format and his gig with Atom Ant (with included Precious Pupp and The Hillbilly Bears). His cartoons appeared in numerous later HB shows, being re-invented at least twice, most recently for '2 Stupid Dogs' in 1993.

animated series Secret Squirrel © Hanna-BarberaOne of Mel Blanc's relatively few full-time apperances for Hanna Barbera outside of their prime-time early 60's shows.

Maybe the first spy-cartoon, and with his Morroco Mole sidekick, arguably a progenitor of Danger Mouse, and quite possibly even Inspector Gadget.

Appeared as teenagers (with new voice actors) in the series 'Yo Yogi' (1991), and was wholly re-invented for '2 Stupid Dogs' (1993) with different voice actors again. See pic.

The number of episodes mentioned above refers to the original series, in whichever incarnation it might have later appeared. It doesn't include the 1991 or 1993 versions.

The voice actors also refer only to the Secret Squirrel and Atom Ant appearances.
