With the involvement of both Christopher Reeve (director) and his wife Dana on this film (producer and voice artist), it stands in some way as a posthumous tribute. IDT includes as part of their synopsis for the film on IMDb that the project theme of "perseverance against all odds" was inspired by its originating director. Neither Christopher or Dana lived to see the film's release.
